Great Photo Websites to Increase your Knowledge of Photography!
http://digital-photography-school.com – This is one of my favorite sites. There’s a wealth of information in this site, especially for photographers new to digital. And, they also address issues facing those who own point and shoot cameras. Click on the blog area and check it out. Then, subscribe to their newsletter to be alerted once a week when new help topics are posted.
www.proudphotography.com – This is a course in photography which is not free. However, it is an excellent site for those who wish to learn AND have a private tutor. There are 15 lessons to the course, and most of them contain assignments that you upload to your tutor and then receive feedback from those submissions.
www.thephotographerslife.com – While a lot of this site focuses on how you can turn your photography skills into cash and offers courses in that area, if you search through the Resources section, you’ll find a lot of tips on specific areas of photography that I’ve found interesting and helpful.
www.popphoto.com – this is the official website of Popular Photography magazine. If you sign up for a weekly newsletter, you will get a broad base of information delivered to you weekly. Pick and choose what you want to read and expand your knowledge.
http://www.pcworld.com/column/id,6/digital_focus.html - PCWorld magazine also has a number of interesting articles. This link takes you to Dave Johnson’s Digital Focus weekly newsletter which you can request. He promises to enhance your expertise with digital cameras, scanners, printers or imaging editing software.
www.fodors.com/focus - Fodor’s has written numerous travel books, but their website also has a great section entitled “How to Take Travel Pictures Like a Pro.” It has tabs containing lots of information like: Classic Vacation Shots, The Natural World, The Elements, People, Lighting, Getting Ready, The Man-Made World, Techniques and Composition. Check it out!
http://www.geofflawrence.com/index.htm - A wealth of free tutorials covering all aspects of photography with signals as to whether the article is for a beginner or a more advanced photographer.
http://www.naturephotographers.net/farchives.html - For those of you who love nature photography, this is a site for you! The link takes you directly to the archives (you can access their front page by clicking on that tab, where you can see some of the wonderful nature shots taken by amateurs and professionals.) Click on Nature Photography 101, Photo Tips or Digital Photography Articles and Tutorials and then just select any of the articles that interest you. Also check out Photo Itinerary Archives and select an area where you might be traveling to get a informative write-up on where to go for the best shots. There’s a wealth of information waiting for you there.
www.takegreatpictures.com - This site offers you Photo Tips and Techniques from Master Photographers, the latest news on new products, events and artists, photo contests, reviews of photography books, columns on digital photography, taking a digital picture, a place to share your own images with others and helps you to take great pictures
There’s lots more out there in the Internet world. I hope the information these sites provide will help you become better photographers.
